At this year’s Masters Tournament, Rory McIlroy and his wife put on a united front alongside their young daughter, Poppy, and for all purposes appeared to be a jovial, happy family unit as McIlroy donned his second green jacket of his career. However, the golfer’s previous divorce saga was revisited by pundits and fans alike for the fact that he filed for divorce from Erica Stoll back in 2024.

McIlroy withdrew the legal request for marital separation after a month, but the fact that he took the step to file for divorce remains a conditional obstacle in his personal life. Shortly after revoking the divorce filing, the golfer spoke with The Guardian, saying, “Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.” The act of initiating open communication with his wife, as implied by his statement to the outlet, signals a green flag rather than a red one. However, speculation remains surrounding the reasons for the filing in the first place.
