The mango is an edible stone fruit produced by the tropical tree Mangifera indica. Native to the region between northwestern Myanmar, Bangladesh and northeastern India, it has been cultivated and spread widely through South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa and the Americas. Mango trees are long-lived evergreens, with hundreds of named cultivars producing fruits that vary in size, colour, flavour and texture. Mangoes are eaten ripe or unripe in many cuisines, including chutneys, pickles, juices and desserts. This is a mango of the 'Nam Dok Mai' cultivar, which originated in Thailand.
