‘The Wolf King’ Romantic Fantasy Books in the Works as a ...

Starz is developing a TV series based on “The Wolf King,” Lauren Palphreyman’s popular romantic fantasy book series.

The project follows a princess named Aurora who is kidnapped by a werewolf. According to the official description, she will find herself “ensnared in a lethal love triangle” and “thrust into a war between humankind and her feral captors, forcing her to decide whether she’s a prize to be claimed or the master of her own destiny.”

In addition to “The Wolf King,” which was published in 2023, Starz has optioned the two sequels: “The Night Prince,” which was published in 2025, and “The Wolf Queen,” set for release this November.

Tanya Saracho will serve as showrunner, and executive produces alongside Palphreyman. Saracho is best known as the creator and showrunner of “Vida,” which ran on Starz for three seasons from 2018 to 2020.

“With the rich world Lauren Palphreyman has created in ‘The Wolf King’ and our longstanding relationship with Tanya — whose instinct for sexy, nuanced storytelling is unmatched — we’re excited to bring this saga to screen with all the heat and heart it deserves,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz.

“Coming back home to Starz with ‘The Wolf King’ is a full-circle moment for me,” said Saracho. “This book has been my obsession since I first found it as an indie release over a year ago, and I’ve been lovingly championing it ever since. While Lauren Palphreyman’s beautiful book series is an exciting departure from the genre I’m typically known for, getting to adapt it for the network that housed ‘Vida’ for three seasons just feels destined to be. I couldn’t be more ecstatic to finally share my love for this story with the world!”
