The death of a 26-year-old woman with ties to Massachusetts has been ruled a homicide, months after she was found dead inside a Connecticut residence, authorities announced.

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said the cause of death for Janina Brooke Murphy was “blunt force injury of the head,” and it ruled her death a homicide. 

Connecticut State Police found Murphy dead on March 29 at 11:16 p.m. in the area of Claire Hill Road in Burlington. They initially described it as a suspicious death.

Police said the case remains under an active investigation, and no arrests have been made.

In an obituary posted online in early April, Murphy’s family wrote that “Brookie will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her, and by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her generous heart and radiant spirit.” 

Her mother is from Plymouth, Massachusetts, according to the obituary. Boston 25 News reported that Murphy graduated from Duxbury High School in 2017.
