Swansea University hosted the launch party of the British Science Festival last night, at an exclusive event held at the Singleton campus. Representatives from across the University, the city council, local businesses and the British Science Association attended the launch event, where Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university, Hilary Lappin-Scott spoke about how excited the university are to be hosting the prestigious Festival in September this year.

Held from the 6-9 September, the Festival will be immediately followed by a Family Weekend on the 10 and 11 September hosted by the Waterfront Museum on Swansea Bay, and will include lots of fantastic drop in events for families and children of all ages.

The programme for the main Festival is due to be launched in June later this year, when booking will open on the British Science Festival website.

The launch event at Swansea University was a good opportunity to thank those who are already involved with the Festival including a number of speakers who have already been confirmed from the various university departments.

Imran Khan, Chief Executive of the British Science Association also spoke at the event and thanked the university for the fantastic hospitality they've offered already to the team at the BSA.

With less than five months to go, the Festival programme is shaping up to be one of the best yet, and will feature speakers and events from across not only science, but also music, policy and the arts.
