A Florida truck driver completed his eight-hour drivers course sentence after he was involved in an accident that left three teenagers dead, and is now hoping to have the case completely sealed from the public's view.

Frederic Ivenet, 36, from Orlando, was operating a truck in Livermore California on December 21 in 2020 when he allegedly made an illegal U turn on Las Positas Road.

The trailer of the truck was still blocking the road before being struck by an oncoming Mercedes-Benz, according to the East Bay Times.

Ivenet was initially charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection to the deaths of Rahal Brar, 18, Shej Kumar, 16, and Ian Ericksen, 16, who were inside the Mercedes that struck the truck.

However, a judge determined in September of 2025 that the driver should not be charged with the felony for only getting his truck stuck in the road.

According to Mercury News his case was decreased to three counts of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter on November 1.

If Ivenet was convicted of felonious manslaughter, he may have faced decades in prison.

The driver was offered a clean record if he plead guilty to a misdemeanor roadway obstruction charge and completed an eight-hour drivers ed course, according to the East Bay Times.

Frederic Ivenet, 36, from Orlando, was operating a truck in Livermore California on December 21 in 2020 when he allegedly made an illegal U turn which resulted in his truck getting stuck before three teens in a Mercedes crashed, none of them survived

Brar's family said on social media that he picked up his cousin Kumar and friend Ericksen after their shift ended at a local Baskin-Robbins ice cream store to bring them home (Rahal Brar pictured)

On March 11, Ivenet submitted a certificate that he'd completed a course called 'Cheapest Traffic School Online'.

Several online traffic schools that claim to be approved by the state of Florida offer its course for around just $5.

His case was dismissed and Ivenet, who has clean record, is in the process of sealing his arrest from public's view, according to court records seen by the outlet.

He remained out of jail for majority of the trial after quickly posting bail.

The trio of teens were heading home when they struck Ivenet's truck on December 21, 2020.

Ivenet was accused of turning against a sign resulting in his truck becoming stuck.

Two of the teens died at the scene while the other succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital

A memorial was placed the day after the crashed at the site of the scene in Livermore, California, on December 22

He allegedly got out of the big rig to tell the owner of nearby business he was stuck before the teens crashed.

Two of the passengers died at the scene while the other succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Brar's family said on social media that he picked up his cousin Kumar and friend Ericksen after their shift ended at a local Baskin-Robbins ice cream store to bring them home.

According to the Independent a GoFundMe for Brar raised more than $30,000.

Donors shared their condolences with the family: 'All of us in Livermore send our love and support to the families of the three boys. Rest in peace, Rahul, Shej and Ian.'

Another added: 'I know God is taking care of these three young beautiful souls.'

A third simply said: 'I am so sorry for this loss to our community.'
