Halting benefit payments for conditions such as anxiety, depression and stress now has widespread public support, according to a study by Tony Blair's think tank.
The report warned voters increasingly believe the current welfare system is 'unaffordable and unsustainable' – and one in three people know someone who is wrongly claiming benefits.
The Tony Blair Institute suggested that people reporting conditions, including anxiety, depression, stress and ADHD should no longer be granted benefits unless they can show that their condition makes it impossible for them to work.
The study argues that working can help people cope with mild mental health conditions and suggests they should be given more support to find a job.
Now it's time to have your say in the Daily Mail's latest poll on whether people with anxiety, depression and stress should receive benefits:
In yesterday's poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Should the King's state visit be going ahead after Trump shooting incident?' Out of more than 2,000 votes, 57 per cent of you said 'yes' and 43 per cent said 'no'.
