A brazen shoplifter who stole an entire Mini Eggs display from a supermarket has been jailed for four months.

Ashley Daley, 39, walked out of a Tesco shop using both hands to carry a large display case on February 5.

CCTV showed Daley making no attempt to cover his face or make a quick getaway as he left the shop.

A prolific shoplifter, Daley was previously recorded walking into other shops and filling bags with meat and alcohol without paying, causing businesses more than £4,000 in losses.

South Wales Police said he was behind a spate of thefts across Wales and the West Midlands.

During a three-week spree in February, he targeted businesses in Cardiff, Taffs Well, Merthyr Tydfil, Chepstow and Caldicot.

He was caught on February 21 in a car after committing another theft earlier that day.

When he was arrested Daley had a kitchen knife, possession of which added to his list of charges.

In his police interview Daley answered 'no comment' to questions about what he had done

CCTV from a separate theft showed Daley stealing a box of Prosecco from a Tesco shop

South Wales Police posted a video of Daley's interview after being arrested, during which he answered 'no comment' to questions about his crimes.

He was charged with 12 counts of theft, one attempted theft and possession of a bladed article.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Warriner said: 'Daley is a prolific offender who was brazen in his actions across the country, showing a clear disregard for the law and believing himself above it.

'Shoplifting is not a victimless crime, and offenders like Daley have a big financial impact on businesses, and emotional impact on those who work there.

'Daley would have continued targeting businesses across the UK and I am glad to see that he has now been prevented from doing so.'
