The Tenth Breakthrough Prize Ceremony - Arrivals

Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" rises to new peaks on multiple Billboard charts while its parent album Teenage Dream climbs to a new high on another roster. It’s been nearly half a year since Katy Perry dropped her last song, a standalone single titled “Bandaids.” It’s been even longer – a year and a half – since her latest full-length, 143. Neither of those releases matched the heights she set for herself in the earliest years of her career, but Perry’s music is still incredibly popular.

In fact, the Grammy nominee sees her most successful album and one of its singles appear on multiple Billboard charts, and she’s on the rise everywhere. Perry’s two charting efforts even manage to hit new all-time highs as both Americans and fans all around the world continue to consume – and especially stream – her work.

“The One That Got Away” Surges Globally

Last week, Perry scored a new win on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., as “The One That Got Away” debuted. The track, featured on her blockbuster Teenage Dream album, has recently gone viral, and as people make TikTok videos using the tune as a soundtrack to wistful moments from their past, it has become hugely popular again.

This frame, “The One That Got Away” rockets from No. 158 to No. 103 on the Billboard Global 200 and from No. 162 to No. 109 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The latter ranking does not include American streams and sales in its methodology, while the Billboard Global 200 does.

“Electric” and “Dark Horse” Fall Behind

Last week, “The One That Got Away” brought Perry to a new low on the two worldwide lists, but it no longer ranks as her lowest-peaking track. “The One That Got Away” leaps over both “Electric” (No. 120) and “Dark Horse,” with Juicy J (No. 143), on the Billboard Global 200, where it ranks as her fourth-highest rising placement out of half a dozen wins.

Katy Perry’s Lowest-Peaking Hits on the Worldwide Tally

The ascent of “The One That Got Away” is even more impressive when looking at the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. On that ranking, the Teenage Dream single pushes past “Electric” and “Dark Horse,” as well as “When I’m Gone,” Perry’s collaboration with electronic dance producer Alesso. “Electric” stalled at No. 112, “When I’m Gone” peaked at No. 114, and “Dark Horse” pulls up the rear, as it only ever surged as high as No. 144, a position it reached back in 2022.

“Cozy Little Christmas” Remains a Standout Hit for Katy Perry

While Perry is on something of a break at the moment, in between eras, “The One That Got Away” is her second single to reach a new high on the two rosters in 2026. “Cozy Little Christmas,” which climbs every year around the holidays, hit never-before-seen peaks on the charts dated January 3, 2026, which tracked consumption in late December. On the Billboard Global 200, “Cozy Little Christmas,” a standalone seasonal single, flew to No. 60, and it ranks as her highest-rising hit. On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., “Woman’s World” earns that honor, while “Cozy Little Christmas” comes in second place, as it once topped out at No. 81.

Teenage Dream Climbs to a New All-Time Peak

The popularity of “The One That Got Away” helps its parent album, Teenage Dream, as it gains ground on multiple tallies as well. Teenage Dream, one of the most successful pop full-lengths of all time, dances from No. 50 to No. 46 on the Top Streaming Albums chart, seemingly propelled almost entirely by the success of her viral cut. No. 46 is as high as Teenage Dream has climbed on the list of the most-streamed collections in the U.S. The same Grammy-nominated release pushes from No. 62 to No. 57 on the Billboard 200.
