This summer, Ariana Grande is planning on releasing a new album titled Petal. The full-length isn't slated to arrive until late July, and there's no word yet on when the singer and actress will begin rolling out singles from the project.
It looked for a while like Grande might put her music career on hold to focus on acting following her star-making turns in Wicked and Wicked: For Good – the first of those two even earned her an Academy Award nomination – but it appears that music will always be paramount to her. Around the same time that Grande surprised and delighted millions around the world by announcing Petal, she scores a new bestselling album in America with one last hurrah attached to the fantastical movie franchise of which she will forever be an integral part.
To help promote the second of the two Wicked films, a TV special titled Wicked: One Wonderful Night aired on NBC on November 6, 2025. A live album recorded during the show was released and then shared again on vinyl for Record Store Day 2026. That version becomes a bestseller in the U.S., and it earns both Grande and Cynthia Erivo – her co-star in the pair of films – new hits on two Billboard charts.

Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live) opens at No. 16 on the Vinyl Albums chart. The set starts a bit lower, at No. 22 on the Top Album Sales ranking, which details the top-selling full-lengths and EPs in the U.S., regardless of genre, and its methodology includes purchases on vinyl, CD, cassette, and via digital download.
Between the two women officially credited on Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live), Grande is the more successful when it comes to the charts. She has now scored 11 placements on the vinyl tally and one additional hit on the Top Album Sales list. Several of Grande’s No. 1s on the Vinyl Albums roster are associated with Wicked, while she’s earned seven champions on the Top Album Sales list.
Erivo snags her fourth trip to the Vinyl Albums chart and her fifth visit to the Top Album Sales rundown. In both instances, Wicked projects – the first two official soundtracks, and now Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live) – are responsible for the lion’s share of her appearances, though solo collections like I Forgive You and Ch. 1 vs. 1 have also managed short stays. For Erivo, this week’s debut marks her first set to land on the Vinyl Albums tally but fail to crack the top 10.

On the current edition of the Vinyl Albums chart, Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live) earns the tenth-loftiest debut. That’s an incredible number of sets that launch ahead of a project that arrives at No. 16. Erivo, Grande, and company are beaten by launches from Zayn, Pink Floyd, Bruno Mars, Fall Out Boy, and Hilary Duff, among others. Several titles also bound back onto the vinyl tally, including those from Paramore, The Cure, and the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, which regains control over the format-specific list.
Wicked: One Wonderful Night (Live) is the thirteenth-loftiest debut on the Top Album Sales chart, the busier of the two rosters. A slew of Record Store Day releases best the two women, while the tally is ruled by K-pop boy band Tomorrow X Together.
