They should be responsible for maintaining an ongoing view of how AI is being used across the organization, identifying risks from every angle, and ensuring governance decisions reflect the full impact on operations, customers, and stakeholders.
Having an identifiable AI leader also signals organizational maturity to regulators, partners, and customers. An AI governance program led by executive-level ownership serves a clear statement that responsible AI is a proactive priority rather than afterthought.
