Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Lance Klusener said his side still had “a lot of pride to play for” ahead of his side’s clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Stadium on Thursday.
“It’s tough, but I think we’ve all got a responsibility to our brand, to the people in our changing room, to our owners as well, to make sure that even though the playoff chances might be slim, we’ve still got a lot of pride to play for,” Klusener said in a press conference ahead of the match.
The former South Africa international also hinted that a few younger players may get an opportunity in the coming five games, saying, “There are a lot of younger people that may get opportunities going forward, so the group has a responsibility to make sure they get the best platform to perform as well.”
LSG has lost all four of its matches at the Ekana Stadium so far, with run-rates at the venue on the lower side. Klusener, however, described the wicket as “fantastic” and instead pointed to the size of the boundaries as a factor tripping batters up.

“If you look at the stats in terms of six-hitting, the least amount of sixes are hit here. So you just need to be aware of that and play in a slightly different way,” he said.
“The boundaries will happen, but what can happen is that you can get caught up in what’s happening in other games around the country, get into boundary mode, and end up missing out a lot on the ones and twos that make up a bulk of the scoring here.”
