Easy chase for LSG?

Top-notch bowling effort from Lucknow Super Giants as it restricts Sunrisers Hyderabad to 156/9. A brilliant counter-attacking partnership from Klaasen and Nitish revived SRH’s fortunes before a flurry of wickets towards the end reclaimed the momentum for LSG.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has been traditionally known for producing batting friendly wickets and with a batting line up that thrives on flat wickets, expect another batter friendly surface today afternoon. Slightly overcast conditions. There are cracks on the surface and looks a little bit dry. 

Player to watch out for LSG-Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran has been enduring a lean run in T20s recently. Pooran hasn’t scored more than 20 runs in his last five T20 innings and will be itching to get back amongst the runs. Last year against SRH, Pooran scored a 26 ball 70 and a 26 ball 45. Can Pooran replicate the same kind of form against the same opposition in 2026? He has a good chance on a good batting wicket at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Player to watch out for SRH- Travis Head

Travis Head loves playing against LSG. In its record chase of 167 in ten overs in 2024, Head scored a 30 ball 89 and in one of the games last year, Head missed his half century by just three runs. Head has a reputation for being consistent once he finds form and after scoring a quickfire 46 in the last game against KKR, Head will be determined to carry the same form into today’s game.

Will Digvesh Rathi play today?

Digvesh Rathi, who was expected to be a regular in LSG’s playing XI did not play in the first game after the team opted to play Shahbaz Ahmad as a result of Shahbaz’s batting ability. Rathi took three wickets across the two matches he played against SRH last season and if LSG’s batting lineup manages to fire today, expect him to be the impact sub.

The PowerPlay Battle

SRH’s bowling has been vulnerable early on, leaking 149 runs in the PowerPlay so far this season. LSG will aim to exploit this, while SRH hopes the early start time in Hyderabad will minimize dew and help their spinners.

LSG experimented with Pant as an opener for only the second time in his IPL career. Although the move only yielded 7 runs, bowling coach Bharat Arun emphasized that the top four positions will remain “dynamic” and strategic.

Bowling coach Bharat Arun is focused on rebuilding LSG’s bowling identity. Despite a narrow loss to Delhi Capitals in their opening game, the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav showed dominance by reducing Delhi to 30/4 during the PowerPlay.

Bowling Concerns for SRH

The absence of Pat Cummins (who flew home for scans on a back injury) has left a gap in the SRH bowling attack. Ishan Kishan is currently leading the side in his absence.
