  • Toss- LSG wins the toss and chooses to bowl first

Rishabh Pant calls it right and he opts to bowl first. Says he is looking to put the opposition under the pressure in the second innings. Acknowledges SRH’s batting lineup but he says he is confident in his team’s ability. When asked if he will open the batting, Pant bluntly says ‘We’ll see’. LSG makes one change to its lineup- M Siddharth for Anrich Nortje. SRH makes two changes, Livingstone and Harshal Patel in the playing XI

  • Pitch report

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has been traditionally known for producing batting friendly wickets and with a batting line up that thrives on flat wickets, expect another batter friendly surface today afternoon. Slightly overcast conditions. There are cracks on the surface and looks a little bit dry.

  • Player to watch out for LSG-Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran has been enduring a lean run in T20s recently. Pooran hasn’t scored more than 20 runs in his last five T20 innings and will be itching to get back amongst the runs. Last year against SRH, Pooran scored a 26 ball 70 and a 26 ball 45. Can Pooran replicate the same kind of form against the same opposition in 2026? He has a good chance on a good batting wicket at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Here’s Pooran’s overall record against SRH- 362 runs from 11 innings at an average of 51.71 and a strike rate of 200

  • Player to watch out for SRH- Travis Head

Travis Head loves playing against LSG. In its record chase of 167 in ten overs in 2024, Head scored a 30 ball 89 and in one of the games last year, Head missed his half century by just three runs. Head has a reputation for being consistent once he finds form and after scoring a quickfire 46 in the last game against KKR, Head will be determined to carry the same form into today’s game.

  • Will Digvesh Rathi play today?

Digvesh Rathi, who was expected to be a regular in LSG’s playing XI did not play in the first game after the team opted to play Shahbaz Ahmad as a result of Shahbaz’s batting ability. Rathi took three wickets across the two matches he played against SRH last season and if LSG’s batting lineup manages to fire today, expect him to be the impact sub.

  • LSG probably playing XII

Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, Digvesh Rathi, Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Anrich Nortje

  • Krunal Pandya leads bowling charts

Lucknow’s bowlers have generally been more effective in these encounters, led by Krunal Pandya’s disciplined spells.

Krunal Pandya (LSG): 7 wickets in 3 innings. He has an exceptional average of 9.85 and a very tight economy of 5.75, with best figures of 3/18. Pandya though is now with RCB.

Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, Akash Singh, Prince Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar, Anrich Nortje, Naman Tiwari, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan.

  • SRH Squad

Ishan Kishan (C), Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Aniket Verma, Smaran Ravichandran, Salil Arora, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins, Liam Livingstone, Kamindu Mendis, Krains Fuletra, Brydon Carse, Praful Hinge, Sakib Hussain, Onkar Tarmale, Jaydev Unadkat, Shivam Mavi, Harshal Patel, Eshan Malinga, David Payne, Harsh Dubey, Amit Kumar, Zeeshan Ansari.

  • The PowerPlay Battle

SRH’s bowling has been vulnerable early on, leaking 149 runs in the PowerPlay so far this season. LSG will aim to exploit this, while SRH hopes the early start time in Hyderabad will minimize dew and help their spinners.

  • Rishabh Pant experiment

LSG experimented with Pant as an opener for only the second time in his IPL career. Although the move only yielded 7 runs, bowling coach Bharat Arun emphasized that the top four positions will remain “dynamic” and strategic.

  • Bowling Transformation

Bowling coach Bharat Arun is focused on rebuilding LSG’s bowling identity. Despite a narrow loss to Delhi Capitals in their opening game, the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav showed dominance by reducing Delhi to 30/4 during the PowerPlay.

  • Bowling Concerns for SRH

The absence of Pat Cummins (who flew home for scans on a back injury) has left a gap in the SRH bowling attack. Ishan Kishan is currently leading the side in his absence.

  • LSG Looking to Rebound

Super Giants started their campaign with a six-wicket loss to the Delhi Capitals. However, they hold a historical advantage with a 4-2 head-to-head record over SRH.

  • SRH’s Batting Juggernaut

Following a loss in their opener, Sunrisers bounced back with a massive 226-run total against KKR. The “all-out aggression” approach led by Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen remains their primary weapon.

  • Head-to-Head Record

Historically, LSG has held the upper hand in this fixture.

    Total Matches Played: 6

    SRH Wins: 2

    LSG Wins: 4

  • Start to season

While Sunrisers Hyderabad recovered from an initial loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by securing a decisive 65-run win against Kolkata, Lucknow Super Giants enter this fixture on the heels of a six-wicket loss to Delhi in its only appearance so far.

  • What happened last season?

Both teams shared the spoils in the 2025 season. Lucknow Super Giants claimed a five-wicket win in their initial encounter, but Sunrisers Hyderabad leveled the score with a comfortable six-wicket triumph in the return leg.
