  • An IPL debut for J&K's pace sensation Auqib Nabi

IPL 2026 — Who is Auqib Nabi, J&K fast bowler making his debut for DC vs CSK today?

After a successful Ranji Trophy season, where he picked 60 wickets, Nabi was bought by DC for Rs. 8.40 crore at the 2026 IPL auction.

  • First innings to begin soon

Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad will soon walk out to open the batting for the home side. DC to bowl first. CSK has never started the season with three consecutive losses and are the only side yet to score a point this season.

It’s about time the Men in Yellow switch on and make a statement, will tonight be that night? Can the Rutu-Sanju combo fire after a string of failures? Or will DC continue its good form with the ball? This promises to be a cracking contest. IPL fans, are you ready? Here we go...

  • Toss - Delhi Capitals

Axar Patel wins the toss and opts to bowl against Chennai Super Kings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad confirms CSK is going with two changes. Dewald Brevis and Gurjapneet Singh come into the lineup.

Two changes for Delhi Capitals as well, with Auqib Nabi and Ashutosh Sharma included in place of Vipraj Nigam and Nitish Rana, respectively.

  • CSK's bowling woes

While CSK needs to improve in all three departments as it searches for its first points, its bowling has been the biggest let down.

In its last match again RCB, CSK conceded 250, and against PBKS it could not defend 209. Anshul Kamboj has been the lone bright spot and with Matt Henry, who was supposed to lead the bowling attack, going for plenty of runs. Should CSK consider playing Akeal Hosein?

  • Good news for CSK fans

Anish Pathiyil: Now, Brevis is standing with gloves on and a bat in hand practicing his stance near the practice wicket.

  • Brevis likely to miss out again

Dewald Brevis has not really had a warm up, informs Anish from the ground. He was seen having a chat with Jamie Overton a while back but nothing other than that. Akeal Hossain was bowling at the practice pitch, alongside Noor Ahmad and Jamie Overton, and might slot into the team.

  • Key match-up to watch out for

Shivam Dube’s battle against Kuldeep Yadav will be one to watch out for. CSK has often relied on Dube’s dominance against the slower bowlers to win phases of play through the middle overs.

But Dube does not really fare too well against the left arm unorthodox spinners. He has just 38 runs off 33 balls and has been nabbed twice. The sample space of the head-to-head between Kuldeep and Dube is limited. In three innings, Dube has scored five runs off seven balls.

  • Our correspondent Anish Pathiyil with an update from the ground

Prashant Veer rolled his arm over a little during practice yesterday. Interesting to see if he will get to bowl today. Matt Henry, Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj have marked their run-ups. So does Gurjapneet Singh. The impact players too mark their run-ups in case their services are required.

  • DC probable playing XII

KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Vipraj Nigam, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, Lungi Ngidi, Mukesh Kumar.

  • CSK probable playing XII

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Prashant Veer, Akeal Hosein, Jamie Overton, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed.

  • KL Rahul - A turn in form coming up?

KL Rahul got back amongst the runs by scoring a 92 in the match against Gujarat Titans last time out but the start to the season has been far from ideal for the opening batter.

Rahul started the season with two single digit scores, a pale shadow of the form he demonstrated in his first season with DC in 2025. Against CSK last year, Rahul top scored with 77 to help his side to a comfortable victory.

Against an opposition he has historically scored a truckload of runs against, can Rahul rediscover his mojo and rhythm tonight? DC will desperately hope so.

  • Can CSK reclaim its fortress?

A match at the Chepauk meant a guaranteed victory for the Chennai Super Kings in the past but times have changed. CSK’s home advantage has withered away since last season. The Men in Yellow have lost six games on the trot at home. Its last win at Chepauk came more than a year ago, against Mumbai Indians.

But with that being said, can CSK finally adapt to the changed conditions at the ground and bring a smile on the faces of its fans tonight?

  • Most wickets in CSK vs DC matches

    R Ashwin- 19 wickets @21.00, ER-6.52

    Dwayne Bravo- 19 wickets @22.42, ER-8.06

    Ravindra Jadeja- 19 wickets @25.78, ER-7.75

    Deepak Chahar- 13 wickets @26.69, ER-8.06

    Albie Morkel- 13 wickets @29.76, ER-8.29

  • Most runs in CSK vs DC matches

    MS Dhoni- 696 runs @38.66, SR-142.04

    Suresh Raina- 552 runs @29.05, SR-132.05

    Shikhar Dhawan- 433 runs @54.12, SR-136.16

    Rishabh Pant- 375 runs @44.87, SR-156.90

    Murali Vijay- 346 runs @34.60, SR-136.22

  • What happened the last time these two teams played?

CSK and DC faced off just once in the 2025 season, in Chennai, with DC prevailing by 25 runs. The visitors won the toss and opted to bat with KL Rahul’s 77 runs paving the way at the top. Cameos from Abishek Porel, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs got DC to a competitive 183-run total.

In response, CSK could post just 158 for five after its top order was jolted by the combo of Mitchell Starc and Mukesh Kumar. Vijay Shankar persisted with a 54-ball 69 but could not take CSK over the finish line. MS Dhoni also chipped in with a 26-ball 30 at the fag end of CSK’s innings.

  • CSK holds an edge over DC

Chennai Super Kings has historically prevailed more often over Delhi Capitals, winning 19 games out of the 31 played between the two sides. However, more recently, DC has had the upper hand, winning on the last two occasions against CSK. The second of these wins came at the Chepauk last season.

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad's waning returns a concern for CSK

The CSK captain had averaged over fifty during the 2024 season, when he had first taken up the leadership mantle for the five-time champion. Last season, that dropped to 24, one where he could play just five games before getting injured. This year, he has just 41 runs from three innings.

  • Time for Sanju Samson to step up?

The opening batter was roped in from Rajasthan Royals before this season in a blockbuster move but he is yet to live up to the billing. In three innings so far, he has three single-digit scores -- 6, 7, 9. Samson finding form will be some much-needed respite for the CSK batting order.

  • Will Dewald Brevis play against Delhi Capitals?

The South Africa batter was injured before CSK’s opening match against RR. The team management confirmed the injury is not expected to sideline for an extended period. However, head coach Stephen Fleming was tight-lipped over his return to the starting lineup. The Proteas batter’s return will surely be a massive boost for a top order that has floundered this season.

  • Can CSK find its footing?

It’s been a horrid start to the season for CSK, where it’s lost twice on the road and defeated at its home by Punjab Kings. Injuries to Dewald Brevis and Mahendra Singh Dhoni has only added to CSK’s woes. Saturday’s encounter against Delhi Capitals is a chance for Gaikwad’s side to attempt to reignite its campaign. A fourth straight defeat is likely to make its comeback a herculean ask.
