Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed South African pacer Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for injured David Payne for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He joined the franchise for INR 2 Cr.
Payne had come into the SRH squad as a replacement for injured Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards and played the first two matches for the franchise, picking up two wickets.
The left-arm pacer returned figures of 2/35 in three overs after coming in as an Impact Sub in the season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru before going wicketless (0/35 in two overs) against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Coetzee, who was part of South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad, had gone unsold in the auction. The right-arm pacer has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, picking up 15 wickets in 14 matches.
