Owing to global conflict and trade blockade, the top leadership of Indian Army has underscored the need to accelerate indigenous production capabilities, for strengthening self-reliance in defence and ensuring long-term strategic resilience in view of current supply chain crisis.

This deliberation emerged in the four-day long biannual Army Commanders’ Conference (ACC), which concluded on Thursday.

The conference also discussed a wide array of issues pertaining to modernisation, technology infusion in combat operations, doctrinal and training requirements besides networking and data centricity to enhance operational readiness and address emerging security challenges, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Friday.

“Based on the lessons learnt from Operation Sindoor, and in keeping with the current operational dynamics globally, senior army leadership also focussed on operational capability requirements including employment of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS),” the statement read.

At the conference chaired by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), the apex military leadership came together with key government stakeholders, including the Cabinet Secretary, Chief of the Defence Staff, Defence Secretary, Chairman of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB), and the Chief of the Naval Staff.

The high-level gathering featured detailed deliberations on the evolving geopolitical landscape and emerging global, regional and internal security challenges.

Drawing lessons from ongoing conflicts worldwide, the speakers stressed the importance of strengthening hard power to safeguard India’s strategic and security interests.

They also underscored the need for closer inter-ministerial coordination, enhanced civil-military synergy, and a whole-of-nation approach to effectively respond to increasingly complex security threats.
