Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan Saturday evening.

The quake hit the Hindu Kush region of the country, sending out tremors that could ‌be felt from the capital Kabul across ‌the border into ‌neighbouring Pakistan, and northern parts of India.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The United States Geological Survey said the quake hit 43 km south of Jurm in northeastern Afghanistan.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck ⁠Pakistan earlier on Saturday, according ⁠to the ⁠European Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
