Russian ‌forces took ​1,700 square ⁠km (656 square ‌miles) of ‌territory ‌in ⁠Ukraine ⁠so far this year ​and ‌are advancing in all ‌directions, ​Russia's top ⁠general, Chief of the ‌General Staff Valery ‌Gerasimov said ​on state television on ⁠Tuesday.
