The counting day - May 4 - traumatised the ruling and the major opposition party (DMK and the AIADMK) by none other than the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which is now better known as TVK, established by its founder Vijay in the Dindigul district.
The district, which is known as the fort of the DMK, though the AIADMK registered its maiden victory here to the Lok Sabha some five decades ago, the TVK’s heavy polling in many seats rattled the DMK and the AIADMK for a major part of the day.
