‘Sadhaneya Shikharagalu’, a compilation of the profiles of achievers authored by senior journalist Kudli Gururaj, was released by the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Basavaraj Horatti, at a function in Mysuru on Monday.

The book published by Bharati Prakashana, Mysuru, was formally released at Kiru Rangamandira on the Kalamandira premises in the presence of journalist-turned Member of Legislative Council K. Shivakumar, editor-in-chief of Janamitra newspaper Madan Gowda, writer S. Prakash Babu, president of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) Shivanand Tagadur and others.

Speaking after releasing the book, Mr. Horatti observed that such works, which document the achievements of individuals and inspire society, serve as valuable guides for the younger generation.

Mr. Shivakumar, who was the chief guest for the function, said journalism is not merely a medium for recording news. Journalists also shoulder the responsibility of introducing exemplary personalities to society, he said.

Mr. Gowda said the personality-profile columns published in the newspaper had received an excellent response from readers and that compiling them into a book had helped create a permanent record.

Reviewing the book, Mr. Prakash Babu said the author’s portrayal of the lives, struggles, and success stories of achievers from various fields in a simple yet impactful language was the book’s greatest strength.

Presiding over the function, Mr. Tagadur said journalists should not only document society’s responses and concerns, but also remain actively engaged in conveying the values and life lessons of achievers to the public.

The author of the book, Kudli Gururaj, who was present on the occasion, expressed gratitude to all those who had supported him in bringing out the book. Earlier, senior journalist Dayashankar Maili welcomed the gathering comprising literary enthusiasts, journalists, dignitaries, and members of the public.
