The Karnataka Health Department has intensified surveillance measures in parts of Tumakuru district after H5N1 avian influenza was confirmed in samples collected from dead peacocks found in several villages.
According to officials, the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) confirmed the presence of H5N1 avian influenza in peacock samples on Wednesday (April 29).
