The Tiruppur district administration has estimated 8.5 MLD (million litres per day) water requirement for the Aerospace Industrial Park at Sulur and the New Defence Corridor at Varapatti, that would be fulfilled through the New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited (NTADCL).
The NTADCL, promoted as a special purpose vehicle by the State government, the Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company, IL and FS Limited and Tiruppur Exporters Association, has been supplying water to industrial clusters in Tiruppur and Coimbatore through long-term agreements.
Established in 2011, the NTADCL began catering to the needs of industrial units of Tiruppur Exporters’ Association. District Collector Manish Narnaware undertook a review of the water supply carried out under the third scheme for supply of 185 MLD water supply per day (expandable) to about 250 MLD, along with NTADCL officials recently.
Of the 165 MLD water being drawn, about 100 MLD is for domestic use and 65 MLD is for industrial use.
Up to 39 MLD of drinking water is provided to the Corporation, and 18.26 MLD to the village panchayats, the Collector said, adding that the new industrial clusters of TIDCO for which requirement of 8.5 MLD is estimated would generate substantial employment.
The 366-acre land parcel at Varapatti Village, close to the Chennai-Coimbatore National Highway, is at a distance of about 30 km from Coimbatore city, and 50 km from Tiruppur city.
The focus areas of another industrial land parcel in Sulur, measuring about 200 acres constitute aero-engine maintenance/repair/overhaul (MRO), airplane assembly, and aero-component manufacturing.
The industrial park is spread across Appannaikenpatty, Kadambadi and Kangayampalayam villages in Coimbatore district and Paruvai village in Tiruppur district.
