All major hospitals in Puducherry have started implementing Central government’s PM-RAHAT scheme to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims.
Under the PM-RAHAT scheme, any person involved in a road accident on admission to any eligible hospital, could avail cashless treatment for up to ₹1.5 lakh. This not only ensures timely medical care but also reduces the financial burden of the affected persons, an official release here said.
The implementation of the scheme is supported by the online accident reporting platforms iRAD/eDAR, developed by the National Informatics Centre. Under the system, the details of the accident are entered and verified by the Police department, followed by scrutiny of the details by the State Health Agency and approval for payment to the hospitals provided by the District Collector, the release said.
