A delegation from the Telangana government’s NRI Advisory Committee on Wednesday held discussions with Andhra Pradesh Minister Kondapalli Srinivas at APNRT Bhavan to study the welfare measures and best practices being implemented for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and migrant workers in Andhra Pradesh.

The Telangana panel is touring Andhra Pradesh to examine the State government’s initiatives aimed at addressing the concerns of overseas workers, particularly Gulf migrants, and the welfare programmes being extended to expatriates and their families.

During the meeting, Mr. Srinivas said the Andhra Pradesh government had been working extensively for the welfare of overseas Andhra residents and resolving issues faced by migrant workers. He explained the mechanisms put in place to provide field-level services, emergency assistance, and grievance redress for expatriates.

The Telangana team reviewed measures being implemented for migrant workers facing hardships abroad, including legal action taken by the Andhra Pradesh Police NRI Cell against fraudulent agents involved in overseas employment scams. Discussions were also held on safety measures for Gulf migrants, insurance coverage, and rehabilitation schemes for workers returning from foreign countries.

Committee members sought detailed information from officials on the State’s NRI welfare framework and ongoing support systems.

The meeting was attended by Telangana NRI Advisory Committee Chairman B.M. Vinod Kumar, Vice-Chairman Manda Bheem Reddy, and Nizamabad Rural MLA Rekula Bhoopathi Reddy.
