The Tirupati district police have issued a warning to the habitual offenders, especially those involved in serious crimes, to mend their ways or face action.
Cracking the whip on rowdy-sheeters and those involved in ganja and POCSO cases at a mega counselling camp conducted here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu warned that those taking the law into their hands would have to face serious consequences.
“If you continue to be wayward or law-breaking elements, you will feel the heat with our ‘zero tolerance’ policy. However, remorse and good behaviour from your side will be acknowledged by the department,” he advised.
Mr. Subbarayudu said law enforcement would be taken with due seriousness in a district like Tirupati, which is famous across the globe for its sacred shrine, and any trivial negative incident could trigger widespread commotion.
Around 450 rowdy-sheeters took part in the programme. PD Act was slapped on thirteen repeat offenders, while seventeen persons involved in ganja cases were booked under PITNDPS Act.
