Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has sought a report after a section of the media alleged irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment in Andhra Pradesh.
On Saturday, the Minister issued written instructions to Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur, instructing him to look into the allegations that medical equipment is being purchased at inflated prices and unnecessary equipment is being procured, and firms that have been declared ineligible for supply are being given opportunities again.
Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav directed the Health Secretary to submit a comprehensive report at the earliest and suggest ways to enhance transparency in the system.
According to a release issued by the Health Department, Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) Executive Director Krishna Mohan met the Health Minister and explained to him that he did not have any role to play in finalising technical specifications while purchasing equipment. He reconsidered proposals only twice, he clarified, giving details about it.
Later, the Minister discussed with him issues regarding transfers, which are likely to take place in 2026. The Minister asked the officials concerned to implement an online system to conduct error-free transfers within a short time.
