Three persons were electrocuted to death on Tuesday at Athoor in Dindigul district.
While initial reports suggested that a power line snapped and fell on the terrace of the house after heavy rain and the victims stepped on it, the police said preliminary investigation did not show any evidence of a power line passing over the property.
Karuppiah, 41, was the first to be electrocuted. His wife Sudha, 37, was also electrocuted when she tried to save him. Subramaniya Siva, 18, a college student residing on the ground floor of the building, died of electric shock when he tried to save the couple. Sempatti police are investigating.
The police said an inspection of the site showed that no power line was passing over the property. The three persons could have been electrocuted because of electric shock from the house’s internal wiring, which had become corroded. Further investigation was on.
