Instead of instilling confidence in the minds of the already panicked people through positive messages in the midst of fuel crisis and rapidly falling rupee value, the Centre was seeding suspicion and despair across the country through its messages, MP Kanimozhi has said.
During a brief informal chat with the reporters here on Saturday after participating in the party workers’ meeting, Ms. Kanimozhi said the Narendra Modi-led Union Government, which failed miserably to read the challenges in store much ahead of the West Asia crisis, was taking knee-jerk measures. Even as the rupee was falling freely against the Dollar, the fuel crisis caused by lack of farsighted approach by the Centre had led to the LPG, petrol and diesel price hike.
Consequently, food price had gone-up while the restaurants and eateries had upwardly revised prices of dishes they used to serve while many dishes had been removed from the menu.
Instead of infusing hope at the time of despair, the Prime Minster’s references about work from home, avoiding unnecessary commutes and buying gold for a year had in fact panicked the people.
“Instead of discussing about the positive measures to be taken to improve the situation, the remarks of people in power at the Centre have only triggered panic and sowed despair,” Ms. Kanimozhi said.
When asked about the Vijay-led government in Tamil Nadu, she said: “They have come to power just now”
