Operation theatres at the upcoming Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS)-Sanathnagar are fully prepared for conducting surgeries while the installation of advanced diagnostic equipment including CT Scan, MRI and digital X-ray machines has been completed and is currently undergoing testing, Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha was informed during a review meeting held on Monday.

Reviewing the trial run of medical services at the facility, the Minister directed senior officials of the Health department to further develop TIMS Sanathnagar into a hospital capable of delivering comprehensive medical services to patients. He also reiterated the State government’s focus on strengthening specialised cardiac and organ transplant care infrastructure at the institute.

Officials briefed the Minister on the medical services presently being offered during the trial phase and highlighted operational challenges and gaps identified so far. The Minister sought detailed information regarding the functioning of outpatient registration counters, consultation rooms, patient waiting areas, diagnostic and radiology services, inpatient wards, ICUs and operation theatres.

During the review, the Minister enquired about the readiness of cath labs and dedicated organ transplant operation theatres intended for advanced cardiac and transplant surgeries.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening non-medical services at the hospital. He directed officials to improve sanitation and security management and suggested that dining facilities be arranged for patients and their attendants.
