The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across Andhra Pradesh have unveiled a comprehensive academic action plan titled ‘Vijayapatham’ for the 2026-27 academic year to improve learning outcomes and achieve outstanding results in public examinations.

The programme, launched under the slogan ‘Learning is the Goal - Success is the Destination,’ aims to secure 100% pass results, increase the number of students scoring above 590 marks, and improve overall rankings. “The initiative focuses on systematic study schedules, continuous assessment and close monitoring of student progress,” said KGBV Secretary D. Devananda Reddy.

Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said that as part of the plan, students will follow a structured daily timetable that includes five hours of supervised study, regular classes, self-learning periods, and three dedicated study sessions monitored by teachers. “Daily schedules have been designed to balance academic rigour with adequate breaks and personal time,” he explained.

To strengthen examination preparedness, weekly grand tests will be conducted for students of Classes X and Intermediate every Monday, covering one subject at a time for 100 marks, while students of Classes VI to IX will appear for similar tests every Tuesday, he said. He added that the test papers will be evaluated within three days and marks will be recorded in a special ‘Vijayapatham Register’ for continuous monitoring.

In addition to the grand tests, daily slip tests will be conducted on all working days except test days. For Class X and Intermediate students, at least three slip tests per subject will be held every month and students of Classes VI to IX will undergo a minimum of two slip tests and four dictation exercises per subject every month. “Teachers on night duty will conduct these assessments based on topics covered during supervised study sessions,” he informed.

A key feature of the initiative is the weekly analysis of student performance, said Mr. Reddy, Based on assessment results, students will be classified into four categories of Unnati (90-100%), Pragati (65-90%), Deepti (40-65%), and Spoorthi (below 40%). Special attention, additional guidance, and focused academic support will be provided to students requiring improvement, he said.

Mr. Reddy said the programme would be implemented in the 352 KGBVs across the State to create a disciplined academic environment, strengthen foundational learning, and ensure that every student receives the support needed to achieve academic success. “The objective is to use Vijayapatham initiative as an effective tool to enhance the quality of education and examination performance in KGBVs across the State during the new academic year,” said Mr. Reddy.
