A major fire broke out at Manali in Chennai on Monday (May 25, 2026). Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services have been battling to put out the blaze since 11.30 a.m.
Around 11.30 a.m., thick smoke was seen billowing from a private oil godown in Lakshmi Nagar, Vichoor. On receiving information, Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot with water tankers to douse the flames.
Sources said firefighters were unable to approach the spot immediately due to the intensity of the fire. The flames spread to a nearby premises. Oil barrels blasted one after another. One woman sustained burn injuries in the incident.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel continue efforts to bring the blaze under control.
