A robbery attempt at an ATM centre was foiled in Salem district on Tuesday (May 19, 2026).
A nationalized bank ATM centre is functioning at Vellalapatti near Karuppur near the bank’s branch. In the wee hours of Tuesday, an unidentified person tried to break the ATM machine following which the burglar alarm in the ATM was triggered.
On hearing the sound, local residents rushed to the spot but the burglar fled the scene.
The Karuppur police registered a case and are verifying the CCTV footage in the ATM.
