The Kozhikode district Suchitwa Mission, in association with the district administration, has launched a campaign titled ‘Reuse Heroes: The Real Heroes’ ahead of the new academic year to promote a culture of reuse among students.
According to officials, the campaign aims to cultivate the habit of reuse among students, reduce the excessive consumption of natural resources, and ensure waste reduction. It also seeks to change the perception that using new bags, umbrellas, shoes, and uniforms is a matter of pride by identifying and appreciating children who reuse old items, rewarding them, and encouraging others to follow the same path.
As part of the campaign, students who come to school using reused items will be given a “A Positive” certificate. To receive the certificate, students have to upload photographs of themselves along with the reused items. Those who acknowledge the importance of reuse and express their willingness to become part of the initiative in the future will receive a “B Positive” certificate. The certificates will be distributed online.
Special district-level awards have also been instituted for schools that ensure the highest student participation in the campaign, as well as for teachers and students who carry out outstanding awareness activities. Those who wish to participate in the campaign should register their details on the web portal https://suchitwamissionkozhikode.in.
