The national general secretary of BJP and the party’s Karnataka in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal said here on Saturday that “possibilities” of re-inducting some senior leaders who have deserted or been suspended by the party “are always there in politics.” He also said it was up to the central leadership of the party to take a call on the question of changing the president of the Karnataka unit.
Replying to a question at a press conference, on whether the BJP will re-induct senior leaders like K. S. Eshwarappa and Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who have been suspended, or welcome back such leaders who have deserted the party in view of the 2028 Assembly elections, Mr. Agarwal said that the State committee of the party takes a decision based on the conduct of such leaders during the suspension period. “It also depends on them that what is their ‘iccha shakthi’. And it also depends on the reason for which they are suspended,” he said.
“In politics, possibilities are always there,” the Rajya Sabha member said.
Mr. Agarwal said that India’s economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fast growing. It is notwithstanding implications of wars between the U.S.-Israel and Iran and between Russia and Ukraine. Amid global challenges India could achieve the GDP growth rate of 7.7% in FY 2025-26. The country is expected to emerge as the third largest economy by 2031, he said.
The BJP leader said that the Union government disbursed ₹4,01,717 crore to Karnataka since 2014 for development projects. About 8,191 km-long network of national highways were built in the State since then. Foundation stone for South India’s first industrial corridor has been laid in Tumakuru, he said.
Later, he addressed BJP workers at a training session in the city.
