A mega-sized national flag was successfully unfurled deep beneath the sea at Swaraj Dweep in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Saturday, earning a place in the Guinness World Records. Bengaluru-based adventure sports professional Sharath R. Ashok played an active role in this feat that saw the participation of about 200 professional scuba divers.
Organised with the support of the Andaman and Nicobar administration and the Indian defence forces, the mission involved unfurling a massive 60x40 metre national flag beneath the sea, amidst strong currents and water pressure. Recognising this extraordinary achievement, Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi presented the team with the official Guinness World Records certificate.
