The Supreme Court has scheduled an open court hearing of petitions seeking a review of the apex court judgment of September 1, 2025 requiring in-service teachers of Classes 1 to 8 in non-minority schools across the country to clear the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) in two years or be “compulsorily retired”.
A Bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan scheduled the hearing of the review petitions for May 13. Currently, 45 review petitions are part of this consolidated case. Some of the first States to file review petitions in the case include Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
