As many as 7,174 voters, including 5,621 senior citizens (aged 85 years and above) and 1,553 persons with disabilities (PwDs), have opted for postal voting by submitting Form 12D in the district, which has 15,581 senior citizens and 12,137 PwDs across its eight Assembly constituencies.
A release from District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy said polling teams will visit the residences of these voters on April 13 and 14 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. to collect postal ballots. Voters who are unable to cast their votes on these dates will be given a second and final opportunity on April 16.
Each polling team will comprise a sector officer, polling officer, micro observer, videographer, booth-level officer and police personnel. Candidates or their authorised representatives may also be present during the process.
Constituency-wise, Perundurai recorded the highest number of applicants at 1,150, followed by Modakurichi (1,104) and Bhavani (1,034) while Erode (East) recorded the lowest at 319.
