The Kollam police have arrested a 22-year-old, the second accused in a case registered in connection with the smuggling of MDMA via courier.
The accused, identified as Pranav, a resident of Jayan Nagar, Thevally, was apprehended from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by airport immigration authorities and subsequently handed over to the police team.
The case unfolded on May 15, 2026, when the police conducted a raid on Pranav’s residence in Thevally based on a tip-off. During the search, officers unearthed 101.07 g of MDMA concealed in 177 pellets.
Sourced from Indore
A subsequent investigation revealed that the first accused in the case, 32-year-old Vishnulal of Shanthabhavan, Pattathanam, Kollam, had sourced the narcotics from Indore and despatched it to Kerala through a postal courier service. While Vishnulal was arrested shortly after the raid, Pranav managed to flee the country, prompting the police to issue a look-out circular to track his movements.
The operation comes as part of the rigorous Statewide anti-narcotic drive Toofan Narco Hunt launched by the Kerala Police. This initiative aims at dismantling drug trafficking networks across the State and rescuing individuals trapped in the clutches of drug cartels. Under this programme, the Kollam City Police have intensified their crackdown to expose additional accomplices, track down financial trails, and identify the primary sources supplying the local drug network.
