In an effort to strengthen emergency response during road accidents and medical emergencies, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, on Tuesday conducted the ‘Golden Hour Guardians – Emergency Response Training 2026’ for police personnel, auto drivers and KSRTC drivers.

The programme, organised in association with Young Indians (Yi), Mysuru City Traffic Police, Auto Drivers Associations and KSRTC, focused on equipping frontline responders with practical life-saving skills that can help during the critical “golden hour” immediately after an accident.

Priyanka, chairperson of Young Indians (Yi); Manish, Road Safety Vertical chair; Sukrutha N., Health Vertical co-chair, Yi; officials from Mysuru Traffic Police and KSRTC, along with the representatives of Apollo BGS Hospitals were present.

Speaking on the occasion, N.G. Bharateesha Reddy, senior vice-president, Rest of Karnataka, Apollo Hospitals, underlined the importance of community partnerships in emergency care and said timely intervention during the golden hour could significantly improve survival rates and patient outcomes.

Dr. Shivakumar Basavaradder, in-charge and consultant in Emergency Medicine at Apollo BGS Hospitals, said police personnel, auto drivers and bus drivers are often the first people to reach accident spots and that basic knowledge of CPR, first aid and trauma response can help save lives before medical teams arrive.

Priyanka noted that empowering communities with life-saving skills was essential for building safer cities and improving public response during emergencies. She also called for more collaborative community-led safety initiatives.

The hands-on training sessions covered CPR, first aid, accident response, ambulance coordination and awareness about the significance of the golden hour. Certificates were distributed to participants, and partner organisations were felicitated at the end of the programme.
