Journalist Mainuddin Dastagir Mulla of Hindalga died in Belagavi on Wednesday.
The 64-year-old journalist was suffering from illness for a brief period. He died in a private hospital.
He served several Marathi newspapers, covering crime and city corporation beats. He remained active till the end.
He was the first to report about a fake call centre operating in Belagavi that duped international clients.
He regularly reported on the condition of inmates in the Hindalga Central Prison.
He is survived by his daughter who is a doctor. His son died at a young age, last year.
The namaz-e-Janaza and other last rites were held in the Noorani mosque on Thursday.
President of the Belagavi District Print Media Association Vilas Joshi and members of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists visited his house on Thursday.
