GM Michał Krasenkow of Poland and GM Aleksej Aleksandrov of Belarus emerged champions of the Second Chola Chess GM Norm Round-Robin Tournament and the First Chola Chess IM Norm Round Robin Tournament, respectively.
Krasenkow scored seven points from nine rounds to clinch the GM Norm title, finishing ahead of IM G.B. Harshavardhan (6.5) and IM Harsh Suresh (6). Harshavardhan also secured his third and final GM norm to become India’s 97th Grandmaster, having crossed the required 2500 Elo rating during the tournament.
In the IM Norm event, Aleksandrov finished with 6.5 points, edging FM Daakshin Arun (6), who earned his second IM norm, while IM L.M.S.T. De Silva (5.5) took third place.
