The Telangana Police’s Women Safety Wing has intensified the Statewide awareness campaign titled ‘Stand With Her’, calling on men to actively speak up against harassment and violence against women instead of remaining mute bystanders. The campaign had been launched in March this year.

The campaign, led by Director General of Police (Women Safety Wing) Charu Sinha, emphasises that silence in the face of harassment indirectly enables wrongdoing, and that ensuring women’s safety requires a larger societal change beyond policing and legal measures.

According to the police, the initiative seeks to engage men as active participants in creating safer public and digital spaces for women. The campaign highlights issues ranging from online trolling and indecent comments to body shaming, workplace ridicule and harassment in everyday life.

The campaign has gained significant traction on social media, with several film personalities and digital influencers extending support. Actor Adivi Sesh joined the initiative and described the internet as a vast ocean and online harassment, indecent comments and trolling directed at women as sand clinging to it.

Social media influencers including Virajita, Deepak Karamungiker, Sharath Nalla, Nisha Nalla and Chillar Boy have also participated in the campaign through videos and online outreach. The campaign stresses that obtaining a woman’s consent before sharing her photographs or videos online is a fundamental right and not merely a matter of courtesy.

Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Sinha said women’s safety cannot be achieved solely through increased police presence and that it requires transformation in societal attitudes. “The same respect we show towards women in our own homes must be extended to every woman outside,” she said.
