A delegation of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Union (TGPWU), led by State president Shaik Salauddin, met Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday (May 18) and thanked him for signing the Gig Workers Bill and extending support to gig and platform workers in the State.

During the meeting, representatives of the union said the legislation would play an important role in safeguarding the rights, welfare and social security of gig and platform workers. They expressed gratitude to the Governor for supporting the concerns of workers engaged in app-based and platform-driven services.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Union, which has been working on issues related to the rights, welfare, social security and working conditions of more than four lakh gig and platform workers across Telangana.

Union leaders also highlighted several challenges faced by gig workers and sought the Governor’s support in addressing them.
