A passenger was intercepted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Thursday (April 16) after security personnel detected concealed foreign currency worth ₹45.28 lakh in hand baggage.
The interception was made by the CISF CIW team based on profiling and suspicious behavioural indicators when the passenger, who was bound for Hong Kong, was screened near the departure gate.
During detailed baggage screening, officials found concealed foreign currency, following which a physical check was conducted. A total of $48,550, estimated at around ₹45.28 lakh, was recovered.
The passenger, along with the seized currency, was handed over to Customs officials for further legal action.
Officials said the detection was made due to coordinated efforts and alertness of CISF personnel. Further investigation is in progress.
