Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the government was borrowing around ₹70,000 crore annually, but at the same time repaying nearly ₹95,000 crore in loans and liabilities left behind by the BRS government.

The CM advised BRS MLA T. Harish Rao to talk about the debts left behind by the BRS before speaking about the government’s borrowings, rather than conveniently ignoring. He said his government was borrowing funds within the limits prescribed under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act while simultaneously repaying debts of BRS regime.

Mr. Reddy said the Congress government had openly stated its borrowing requirements of around ₹54,000 crore and stressed that no State government could exceed FRBM limits without approval.

The Chief Minister also launched a personal challenge to Mr. Harish Rao, asking him to publicly affirm his loyalty to the BRS. “Harish Rao should swear in the name of KCR that he will remain in the BRS,” Mr. Revanth Reddy remarked. “I know who Harish Rao is speaking to, but I do not want to disclose it.”

The Chief Minister further alleged that there was little doubt that the BJP and BRS would join hands politically in the future. He said the government had handed over two cases against the BRS to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) based on preliminary evidence. “Mr. Kishan Reddy should clarify the BJP’s stand,” he added.

The Chief Minister said he would remain active in Telangana politics until at least 2034 while describing his partnership with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud as a successful one, delivering victories in successive elections. He also hinted at a larger role for Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud in national politics if the Congress came to power at the Centre.
