The Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Coimbatore, has directed Skin Zaa Cosmetology & Laser in R.S. Puram to stop functioning after an inspection found violations of norms governing clinical establishments.
The action follows complaints submitted by P.K. Kaviarasan, president of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL).
Based on the complaints, officials inspected the clinic on June 22. A report submitted by the Chief Medical Officer of the Government Hospital, Thondamuthur, found that the establishment had been providing treatment without obtaining a registration certificate under the Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments (Regulation) Act (TNCEA), as required under Government Order No. 41 issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department on February 13, 2026.
The inspection also found that laser procedures at the clinic were not being administered by a duly qualified medical practitioner, according to the report.
In an order issued on June 23, the Joint Director informed the clinic that it should not function. The order warned that action would be initiated against the establishment under the provisions of the TNCEA and related rules if it continued to operate despite the directive.
