Minister for School Education Rajmohan urged private schools to reduce fees and to display the fee structure on their websites and premises on Tuesday in Chennai.
Speaking at a function to give recognition certificates to private schools he said, “As much as possible, reduce the fees to give a chance to the poor children who want to join schools. Private and government school children are our ours, we must take care of them.” As many as 848 private schools received recognition orders from the Minister.
In a move to curb corruption, the Minister also said, “From July 1, from renewal to no objection certificate [for private schools], everything will be made online. Do not believe anyone who claim they would get it done for you. No need to give money anywhere. Just make sure that the children are safe and that they study.”
Pointing out that schools are a place of joy, he added that the schools must make sure that children are safe and happy. “In government schools, no teacher can be employed without clearing TET, I request that you also employ teachers who have cleared TET,” he added.
