Ollur’s reputation as a bellwether of the State’s political mood no longer holds. Since 1982, the constituency had consistently elected candidates from the front that went on to form the government in the State.

Although Revenue Minister K. Rajan of the Communist Party of India (CPI) won from Ollur, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has failed to come to power.
