A Mangaluru court on Saturday sentenced Dayanand Moolya to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a penalty of ₹30,000 on finding him guilty of raping a seven-year-old girl.
The second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fast Track Sessions Court-2, Mangaluru, K.S. Maanu, sentenced 44-year-old Moolya for the offence punishable under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, read with Section 65(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4(2) of POCSO Act. In default of payment of penalty, he shall undergo further simple imprisonment of three months.
