Yercaud is gearing up to host the 49th summer festival and flower show.

The annual summer festival and flower show organised in May at the hill town attracts over five lakh visitors. The 49th summer festival and flower show are expected to be held in the third or fourth week of May and works are going on.

At the Rose Garden, Anna Park, and Botanical Park, the Horticulture Department workers are preparing the flower pots and arranging them for the flower show. The workers arrange flowers in 30,000 pots. In this flower show, 40 varieties of two lakh flowers will be displayed.

The Department officials said that as the new government assumed office on Sunday, the dates for the summer festival will be finalised soon. Replicas of important structures such as the Mettur Dam will be created using flowers and vegetables. Likewise, the Highways Department has re-layed the damaged roads in the hairpin bends and painted the side walls. District Collector A. Arun Thamburaj visited the town last week and inspected the preparation works. The district administration will announce the festival dates soon, they said.
